Zhao Lusi recently opened up about her difficult health journey, revealing the painful treatment process she has been undergoing to regain her health. In a candid interview with Global Times on January 24, the actress shared her experience of facing her "darkest moment" and finding hope for a "rebirth."
Zhao Lusi explained that she used to ignore her illness, often thinking of herself as a burden. This denial led her to a low point, where she had to confront the harsh reality of her situation. The actress shared that, while she is now able to live a normal life, her treatment process will continue for another 3-4 months. As part of her recovery, Zhao was prescribed medication to regulate her hormone levels, as she had been experiencing a range of symptoms, including loss of appetite, weight loss, and mental breakdowns.
Zhao Lusi revealed that the symptoms of depression started several years ago, but she chose to ignore them out of fear of disappointing her family, friends, and fans. Struggling with insomnia, she relied on sleep aids to maintain her energy for her demanding work schedule.
Despite her struggles, Zhao Lusi felt constant pressure to perform and advance her career, which led to anxiety and the fear of being judged for not working hard enough. This fear, coupled with the denial of her health issues, contributed to her ongoing mental and physical struggles.
Reflecting on her journey, Zhao Lusi described it as a path from her "darkest moments" to her "rebirth." She emphasized the importance of not being trapped by physical pain or mental struggles, saying, "Don't let yourself get stuck in physical pain or mental imprisonment."
After a month of rest and treatment, Zhao Lusi's dissociative symptoms have significantly improved. She shared that, at her lowest point, she was unable to take care of herself, experiencing physical sensory delays, including the loss of language ability, trouble walking, and an inability to hold objects. Now, she is able to live a normal life once again.
While her recovery is still ongoing, Zhao Lusi's doctors have encouraged her to re-engage with society and participate in charity activities. She remains committed to her healing process, with her treatment continuing for the next few months.
Zhao Lusi also clarified that her experience of illness and collapse is not meant to be seen as a dramatic victim story. "If this were a script, I would find such a plot quite strange, but it happened," she said, emphasizing the authenticity of her journey.
On January 25, the actress made her return to the public eye during a private event with 100 fans, marking her first appearance since her health struggles began.
