Actor Chen Zheyuan was absent from CCTV's Spring Festival Gala due to an unfortunate accident. He slipped and fell in the bathroom, resulting in a broken collarbone. He was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
Despite the injury, Chen Zheyuan took to his personal page to update fans and reassure them about his condition. He also showed his generosity by giving out a total of 55,000 red envelopes—15,000 on Weibo and another 40,000 in a private fan chat group—spending approximately 870,000 NTD (over 26,500 USD) in lucky money. His gesture quickly gained attention, leading to a surge of 3.5 million new followers on his account within a day.
"I'm fine, everyone can rest assured. I've returned home to enjoy my mother's cooking. Whether or not I receive red envelopes, everything will get better and better. Let's all prosper together in the new year," he wrote.
Born in 1996, Chen Zheyuan initially debuted as an idol singer before transitioning into acting. In 2020, he played the role of Xiao Yuer in New Legend of the Twins, though his portrayal was criticized for being too childish for the character, and the drama failed to achieve significant success.
In 2021, he took on a supporting role in Twelve Legends. His career gained traction in 2023 when he starred as Duan Jiaxu in the hit romance drama Hidden Love alongside Zhao Lusi, earning widespread praise. The following year, he played the lead role of Yun Tianhe in Chinese Paladin 4, co-starring with Ju Jingyi.
Looking ahead, Chen Zheyuan is set to appear in the upcoming drama White Olive Tree.
