A$AP Rocky’s legal team is set to present their defense on Friday in a Los Angeles courtroom, where the rapper and fashion icon faces charges of firing a gun at former friend A$AP Relli in 2021.
Defense attorneys plan to call A$AP Twelvyy, another member of the A$AP Mob, to testify that Rocky only fired a starter pistol loaded with blanks—arguing that this explains why Relli suffered only minor injuries.
Rocky, who has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, risks a maximum sentence of 24 years in prison if convicted. He previously rejected a prosecution plea deal that would have included just 180 days in jail.
The high-profile trial has drawn attention not just for its legal stakes but also for Rocky’s influence in fashion. Rihanna, his longtime partner, was seen in court on Thursday supporting him, while his courtroom attire—designer Yves Saint Laurent ensembles—has become a talking point in the fashion world.
With jury deliberations looming, it remains uncertain whether Rocky himself will take the stand in his defense.
