Actress Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her residence on February 16, shocking those close to her, especially as she had been actively preparing for a return to the entertainment industry.
A close acquaintance of Kim Sae-ron revealed to Sports Donga, “Until January, we were actively discussing the timing and method of her comeback. I never imagined something like this would happen.”
According to the Seongdong Police, a friend of Kim Sae-ron visited her home that day, found her collapsed, and reported the incident at around 5:00 PM. Authorities have found no signs of external intrusion or criminal activity but are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances and cause of death.
Kim Sae-ron, once a rising star, faced controversy in May 2022 when she was fined 20 million won for crashing into a tree and a transformer while driving under the influence. Following the incident, she halted her activities and withdrew from several projects, including the Netflix drama Hunting Dogs and the play Dongchimi, citing health reasons.
Despite her hiatus, she had recently completed filming for the independent film Guitar Man, which tells the story of a genius guitarist joining an underground band. The film, directed by musician and businessman Lee Sun-jung, has yet to receive a release date.
Kim Sae-ron debuted as a magazine model in 2001 before transitioning to acting in The Traveler (2009). She gained widespread recognition for her role alongside Won Bin in The Man from Nowhere (2010) and went on to star in films such as The Neighbor, Dohee-ya, and Manhole.
Her unexpected passing has left the entertainment industry and fans mourning the loss of a talented actress whose career was once filled with immense promise.
