On February 13, the Dongyang Public Security Bureau of Zhejiang Province released an official statement on its Weibo account, refuting claims made by actress Cui Manli regarding a supposed drunk driving incident. The statement clarified:

"After a comprehensive investigation, our bureau found that her self-exposure content was false information. To attract attention and gain followers, she fabricated a story about driving without a license, being intoxicated, and fleeing the scene while filming in Hengdian. This misinformation caused serious negative social impact. She has been administratively detained according to the law."

The controversy began when netizens revealed that Cui Manli, known for her role as Yu Ying’er in Empresses in the Palace, claimed in a live broadcast that she had driven without a license, crashed into another car in a hotel parking lot, and fled the scene. She further stated that upon returning the next day, she checked for surveillance cameras and, upon discovering they were broken, dismissed any concerns.

Her remarks quickly went viral, sparking heated discussions online. However, the police investigation confirmed that the entire story was fabricated. As a result, Cui Manli now faces administrative detention for spreading false information.
