King & Prince member Nagase Ren, often called a “national treasure-level handsome guy”, recently shared his views on love on a variety show. He enjoys the thrill of pursuit and prefers emotionally stable girls over those who appear overly dependent. He finds it exciting when a girl initially seems uninterested but gradually shows affection.
Nagase also revealed his unusual breakup strategy—instead of ending things directly, he subtly changes his attitude to make the other person dislike him and initiate the breakup. He admitted, “I don’t want to be a bad guy”, so he would rather let his partner make the final call.
Currently starring in the drama It’s Hard to Fall in Love with a Rich Young Master, Nagase plays a wealthy yet spoiled heir who matures through love and friendship. While he shares a love for fashion with his character, he describes Subaru’s narcissism as “too extreme”. If he were truly as rich, he joked that he’d buy his own Shinkansen with a bed and bar for relaxing long trips.
