In the early days of the new year, the Korean box office saw fierce competition between films of various genres. Despite high expectations, Song Hye Kyo's return to cinema in "Dark Nuns" underperformed. While the film sold 1.18 million tickets and earned 11.5 billion won, it failed to maintain momentum, with a weak script and controversial dialogue.
On the other hand, "Hitman 2," the sequel to the 2020 action comedy, triumphed at the box office during the Lunar New Year. The film sold 1.51 million tickets, generating 14.4 billion won in revenue. "Hitman 2" continues the thrilling tale of Jun (Kwon Sang Woo), a former spy caught in a web of intrigue.
Meanwhile, "Secret: Untold Melody," a fantasy romance, secured third place, while "Harbin" remained a strong contender in fourth.
