The outfit quickly drew backlash online, with many netizens expressing disappointment and criticizing the actor for wearing such controversial clothing in public. Comments such as “Does he think dressing like that is cool?” and “As a public figure, does Fan Chengcheng think this is acceptable?” reflected the widespread disapproval.
As of now, Fan Chengcheng has not responded to the controversy.
This is not the first time the actor has faced negative reactions. At the end of 2024, he was heavily criticized for his performance in the film Alley People, with many calling his acting stiff and lacking emotion.
Born in 2000, Fan Chengcheng initially trained in South Korea before returning to China to participate in talent shows. He gained public attention through Idol Producer, largely due to being Fan Bingbing’s younger brother. Despite taking on various acting roles in dramas like Ling Yu, Forgotten Time, and Forever Love, his performances have remained controversial. Some viewers believe he is more suited for entertainment shows rather than serious acting.
