Initially setting a record for the fastest domestic film to reach 10 million yuan in pre-orders, Legend of the Condor Heroes underperformed upon release on January 29. By 10:40 p.m. (local time), it ranked 4th at the box office with 256 million yuan, behind Nezha 2 (483 million yuan), Detective Chinatown 1900 (460 million yuan), and Fengshen 2 (380 million yuan). The film had a screening rate of 14%.

Despite praise for its visuals, investment, and improved performance by Xiao Zhan, audiences found the plot unengaging and the effects exaggerated. Many believe the film’s high pre-sales were driven by Xiao Zhan’s massive fan base rather than its quality.

Directed by Tsui Hark, the film adapts chapters 34–40 of Jin Yong’s wuxia novel, focusing on Guo Jing and Huang Rong defending the border. Xiao Zhan underwent intense training in martial arts and horse riding, spending over 10 hours a day preparing for the role. However, the film failed to make a significant impact at the box office.
