Actor Deng Lun has made a notable return to the public eye after being banned from broadcasting for nearly three years due to a tax evasion scandal.
On January 24, 2025, the actor reappeared in the spotlight by participating in ArtPDF, a self-published magazine. Deng Lun was one of seven artists invited to take part in a unique challenge: creating seven distinct products that would answer the question, "How do you recognize a person without a name, a face, or an identity?"

However, Deng Lun chose not to appear under his real name, instead using the alias Bac Bac. The photos of him in the magazine did not show his face, and in a video interview, when asked how he wanted to cover his face, he explained that he preferred a colorful flower garden as his facial cover.
The magazine, priced at 80 yuan, quickly became a hit, with sales reaching 10,000 copies in just 10 minutes, and surpassing 30,000 copies sold by the afternoon of January 24.
Born in 1992, Deng Lun was once a beloved Chinese actor, known for his roles in Not Flowers, Not Frost, Ode to Joy 2, Ashes of Love, and Pears Steamed with Rock Sugar. However, his career faced a major setback in March 2022 when he was investigated for tax evasion.

The investigation revealed that Deng Lun had falsified his income declarations and used deceptive methods to evade personal income tax amounting to 47.6 million yuan, in addition to underpaying 13.9 million yuan in taxes. As a result, he was fined a total of 106 million yuan. The Shanghai Tax Bureau reported that Deng Lun had been warned about tax fraud since 2021 but failed to voluntarily settle his fines.
Following the scandal, Deng Lun was banned from broadcasting indefinitely, removed from film projects, and faced the termination of contracts with several brands, which led to the collapse of his career. However, it is rumored that he is currently exploring business ventures.
While his appearance in ArtPDF after three years may signal a potential comeback, the road back to the entertainment industry could be challenging. Most Chinese celebrities involved in tax evasion scandals have been permanently banned from broadcasting, leaving little opportunity for a return to domestic activities.
