We've been through a lot together and learned a lot, and those are great memories," he said.
Sam reflected on his initial days with Britney, recalling their romantic dates and how he later discovered she was still under her father's guardianship, which severely limited her freedoms. At the time, Sam questioned, "Why does someone over 18 need their father's consent?"
Sharing his perspective on Britney's situation, Sam remarked, "One of the hardest things to deal with when you're in the entertainment industry is your parents and the people around you. They come into your life and they take advantage of you because they're the closest people. They think it's because you owe them. It's ridiculous. It's the strangest thing I've ever seen in my life." He had supported Britney throughout her fight to end her father's guardianship, which she finally succeeded in doing by the end of 2021.
The couple, who had been together for seven years, filed for divorce in August 2023. At that time, Britney revealed she was heartbroken over the separation. Since the divorce, Sam has gone public with his new girlfriend, Brooke Irvine, while Britney had a brief relationship with her former housekeeper, Paul Richard Soliz.
