The ongoing conflict between Ador and NewJeans escalated as the group announced their name change to NJZ and declared the termination of their exclusive contract. In response, Ador, a subsidiary of HYBE, refuted the claims and insisted that the members use their original team name.

On February 10, Ador released an official statement addressing the issue, stating, "The members of NewJeans announced plans to promote under a group name that was not agreed upon with Ador, causing confusion and prompting numerous media inquiries." The label further emphasized, "The exclusive contracts between NewJeans and Ador remain legally valid, and the claim of termination is a unilateral assertion."

Ador urged media outlets to use the official name "NewJeans", highlighting the importance of exclusive contracts in the entertainment industry.

The dispute traces back to April 2024, when HYBE dismissed former Ador CEO Min Hee-jin following an internal audit. The NewJeans members publicly supported Min, even submitting a petition to the court in her defense. In November 2024, they declared the termination of their contracts, further intensifying the standoff.

Recently, the group announced their participation in 'Complex Live' at the Hong Kong AsiaWorld-Expo under the name NJZ, where they plan to unveil a new song. However, Ador remains firm, stating that NewJeans’ contract is valid until July 2029. The company has filed a court injunction to confirm the contract’s validity, with a hearing set for March 7, while the first oral argument for the lawsuit will take place on April 3.
