On February 6, Operation Jiaolong held a screening event in Beijing, where actor Wang Junkai (Karry Wang) appeared to interact with the audience and share insights about his role.
In the film, Wang Junkai plays a sonar soldier, a role that required him to embody the calm and composed nature of a military professional. To prepare, he studied submarine-themed films and documentaries, observed real sonar soldiers, and received training from a consultant on operating sonar equipment.
Wang Junkai admitted that distinguishing sonar sounds was a major challenge. He had to rely on his imagination and close collaboration with the director and cinematographer to convey the film’s tension and atmosphere effectively.
When asked about his Lunar New Year celebrations, Wang Junkai shared that he spent the holiday with his family playing mahjong and wished for happiness throughout the new year.
