In an interview with the Times of London on January 25, billionaire Bill Gates confessed that his divorce from Melinda Gates after 27 years of marriage is the biggest regret of his life.
Gates admitted that, despite other failures, the divorce was his most significant mistake, leaving both him and Melinda miserable for two years. He shared that their nearly three-decade marriage provided him with confidence while building Microsoft.
The couple, married in 1994, has three children: Jennifer (1996), Rory (1999), and Phoebe (2002). They announced their divorce in May 2021 after a year of separation. Melinda later revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic gave her time to reflect on their marriage.
Their split was influenced by Gates’ alleged affair with a Microsoft employee and his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, whom Melinda described as “the embodiment of evil.” Gates acknowledged meeting Epstein was a mistake.
Both have since moved on, with Melinda dating Philip Vaughn and Gates in a relationship with Paula Hurd since 2023. Despite their separation, they remain connected through family events.
