Who Will Inherit Barbie Hsu's Fortune?

According to China Press, if Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu did not leave a will, her husband DJ Koo Jun Yup and her two children would be the primary heirs to her vast fortune. Hsu, who rose to fame in the early 1990s, built a successful career in acting, hosting, and music. While she stepped away from the entertainment industry in recent years, media reports suggest she still held significant wealth.

Legal Complications: Inheritance and Custody Issues

One of the biggest concerns following Barbie Hsu’s passing is the division of her assets and the custody of her children. Adding to the complexity, her legal battle with ex-husband Wang Xiaofei remains unresolved.

Under their divorce agreement, Wang was obligated to pay Hsu 690,000 yuan (approximately $96,000) in child support every quarter until 2038, along with covering her living expenses and nanny fees. However, reports indicate that since March 2022, Wang stopped making payments, accumulating a debt of $160,000. Hsu had sought legal enforcement of the payments, and now, DJ Koo may continue the lawsuit in her place.

Barbie Hsu’s Massive Fortune

Hsu reportedly owned high-value real estate, including a luxury home in Taipei worth $12 million and an art gallery valued at $7.5 million. Some estimates place her total assets in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Under Taiwanese inheritance law, the primary heirs are the spouse and children. This means DJ Koo and Hsu’s two children would likely inherit her assets. However, if Wang Xiaofei gains custody of the children, he could potentially gain control over their share of the inheritance, leading to further legal disputes.

Did Barbie Hsu Leave a Will?

A report from QQ suggests that Barbie Hsu may have drafted a will in 2023, leaving all her assets to her mother and children. However, this claim has yet to be officially confirmed.

As legal battles over Hsu’s estate and child custody unfold, her passing has left behind a complex and emotionally charged situation involving her family, DJ Koo, and her ex-husband Wang Xiaofei.
