Late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, who passed away at 48 due to pneumonia complications, was commemorated with a heartfelt tribute on a Times Square billboard. A one-minute video featuring her most iconic moments moved fans, many of whom expressed gratitude online, saying, “Thank you for letting us remember her in her most beautiful moment.”

The tribute was organized by a devoted admirer, known as “Jiang Er Er,” who felt a deep connection to Hsu and wanted to honor her as a global icon. Despite the high cost of securing billboard space—estimated between $50,000 to $100,000—Jiang covered the expense herself, rejecting financial contributions from other fans.
Jiang originally planned the tribute for the Lantern Festival but moved it up to February 10 due to weather concerns. A similar tribute also appeared in Nanjing’s Wuyue Plaza, featuring the message “Goodbye, Shan Cai,” in reference to Hsu’s legendary Meteor Garden role. Jiang’s goal was to both honor Hsu’s legacy and dispel misconceptions surrounding her life.
