During a New Year's Eve music event on December 31, Wang Yibo stunned the audience with a high-risk stunt at a height of 50 meters. The male singer performed daring aerial moves, including falling backward, kicking, and spinning mid-air. However, the crowd was horrified to discover that one side of his cable's safety pin was not secured.

The performance, part of Hunan TV's New Year’s Eve party, has drawn heavy criticism from Chinese media and the public. Despite the shocking oversight, Wang Yibo completed the act without incident. Still, images of him suspended in the air with an unsecured cable quickly went viral on social media, sparking outrage and garnering hundreds of thousands of comments.

“I was terrified,” wrote one viewer. “How could the crew be so negligent?” Others demanded accountability: “Imagine the consequences if he fell from that height,” and “Such a large event, yet the staff overlooked basic safety measures.”

The incident has placed Hunan TV under scrutiny. Just hours before the show, the stage lift reportedly broke in half. Although the station claimed it was a “minor glitch” and repaired the issue, the public remains critical of the event’s technical and safety standards.

As of now, neither Hunan TV nor Wang Yibo’s management company has issued an official statement addressing the incident. Fans and viewers alike are calling for stronger safety protocols to prevent such risks in the future.
