On a quiet winter weekend at the box office, DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Dog Man’ held its position as the top movie in theaters for the second week in a row.

The animated film, based on Dav Pilkey’s popular graphic novel series, earned $13.7 million in ticket sales, according to studio estimates on Sunday. Meanwhile, new releases ‘Love Hurts’ and ‘Heart Eyes’ struggled to make a significant impact.

Hollywood often avoids major theatrical releases on Super Bowl weekend, instead focusing on promoting upcoming blockbusters through TV trailers. Despite the lack of competition, ‘Dog Man’ saw a sharp 62% decline in its second weekend, bringing its domestic total to $54.1 million—already surpassing its $40 million production budget.

Coming in second place, Spyglass Media Group’s ‘Heart Eyes’—a horror-romance mashup released by Sony—earned $8.5 million from 3,102 theaters. Directed by Josh Ruben and starring Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding, the film received positive reviews but audiences gave it a lukewarm ‘B-’ CinemaScore. Made on an $18 million budget, it still has ground to cover to turn a profit.

Meanwhile, ‘Love Hurts’, an action-comedy from 87North Productions (known for ‘John Wick’ and ‘The Fall Guy’), had a disappointing debut with $5.8 million from 3,055 theaters. The film stars Ke Huy Quan in his first major role since winning an Oscar for ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’, alongside Ariana DeBose. However, audiences largely rejected the movie, giving it a ‘C+’ CinemaScore.

Next weekend is expected to bring a major boost to the box office, with the highly anticipated releases of Marvel’s ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ and Sony’s ‘Paddington in Peru’.
