According to the police on February 16, Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, at approximately 5 PM. A friend who visited her residence discovered her and immediately reported it to the authorities. The police are currently investigating the circumstances of her death.
A source close to Kim Sae-ron told Xports News, "She was living alone in Seongdong-gu, while her family resides in Gyeonggi-do. Her younger sibling frequently traveled between her home and their parents’ house." The source also revealed, "Kim Sae-ron had been receiving ongoing mental and psychological treatment. She recently mentioned plans to open a café, making this news even more heartbreaking."
Born in 2000, Kim Sae-ron debuted as a magazine model in 2001 before launching her acting career in the 2009 film The Traveler. She gained widespread recognition through The Man from Nowhere and continued to star in numerous works, including The Neighbor, Do-hee-ya, Snowy Road, and dramas like The Queen’s Classroom, Mirror of the Witch, Love Playlist Season 4, and The Excellent Shaman Ga-du-sim.
However, in May 2022, she was involved in a drunk driving incident where she crashed into a tree and a transformer before fleeing the scene. Following the controversy, she took a hiatus from the entertainment industry.
After a period of self-reflection, Kim Sae-ron had been preparing for a return to acting. She recently completed filming for the movie Guitar Man, which was set for release this year.
