Timothée Chalamet is set to deliver a passionate and immersive performance as Bob Dylan in the upcoming film Completely Unknown, directed by James Mangold. The musical biopic will explore the early years of the legendary artist, who revolutionized popular music during a time of cultural upheaval.

Originally halted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film’s production resumed after Chalamet spent five years deeply studying Dylan’s music, posture, and vocal techniques. Director James Mangold insisted on an authentic and unfiltered portrayal, leading Chalamet to undergo rigorous music training and immerse himself in Dylan’s world through performances and interviews.

Producer Alex Heineman emphasized that Chalamet did not simply mimic Dylan but instead crafted his own interpretation of the artist, capturing both his essence and individuality. Vocal coach Eric Vetro praised Chalamet’s ability to grasp intricate musical layers, highlighting his keen auditory skills.

Chalamet took his dedication a step further by singing live on set, playing the harmonica and guitar, and even composing a song. Reflecting on his preparation, he shared, “I repeated it endlessly, pouring in what’s called 10,000 hours. It took five years and six months, with months of intense practice.”

Music producer Nick Baxter further revealed that since the film required live, on-site recordings, Chalamet had to perfect his performances in real-time, proving his deep commitment to embodying Dylan’s artistry.
