The action-comedy film ‘Hitman 2’, directed by Choi Won-seop and starring Kwon Sang-woo, has successfully captivated audiences across generations, officially surpassing its break-even point (BEP). Following its milestone of 2 million viewers, the film is on track to solidify its status as the first major box office hit of 2025.
As of 4:45 PM on February 9 (Sunday), according to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticket sales network, ‘Hitman 2’ has drawn in over 2.3 million viewers, securing profitability. Notably, this marks the first film of the new year to exceed the 2 million mark, raising expectations that it could be the first to surpass 3 million viewers as well.
A sequel to the 2020 hit ‘Hitman’, the film follows Jun (Kwon Sang-woo), a former blockbuster webtoon writer who suddenly becomes labeled a "brainless writer." When a terrorist attack mimics his new webtoon, he finds himself framed as the culprit, setting off a wild action-packed adventure. Viewers have praised the film’s comedic timing, upgraded scale, and the enhanced chemistry of ‘Team Hitman’, all of which surpass its predecessor.
