Global superstar Shakira was hospitalized on Saturday due to an abdominal issue, forcing her to cancel her highly anticipated concert in Lima, Peru.
The Colombian singer took to social media on Sunday to share the unfortunate news, revealing that doctors had advised her against performing.
"I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized," Shakira wrote on Instagram.
She continued, "The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening."
Expressing her disappointment, she added, “I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I've been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru.”
Shakira recently kicked off her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour on February 11. The Lima concert was supposed to be only the third stop on the tour, making the cancellation even more unexpected.
Fans in Peru had eagerly awaited the performance, marking her return to the country after several years. However, her health concerns have taken priority, with no immediate update on whether the show will be rescheduled.
As of now, it remains unclear how this hospitalization will affect the rest of her tour dates. Fans worldwide are sending their well wishes for her speedy recovery, hoping to see her back on stage soon.
